In the detailed 3D assembly with part data, every 3D solid carries its part data, such as the part ID and the production information.
The preceding process step is the 3D modeling and detailing of the assembly, which provides the solids and their part data. The part data supports workshop logistics management and can also be used for building sequence simulation. An example is shown below.
Which MasterShip commands apply?
The following MasterShip commands can be used:
- SHIPSYNCHRONIZEPROJECTFOLDERS: This command synchronizes all the data from all the drawings in the MasterShip project with the project database. This ensures all your data is up-to-date, and that the information in reports and nestings will be consistent with the 3D model.
In addition, the following actions are relevant to this deliverable:
- Importing external items;
- Making arrangement drawings;
- Making CoG & weight calculations;
- Exporting the 3D model.
How can the part data be used?
- Retrieving component information: A unique part ID is assigned to every plate part and stiffener. The ID is linked with material grade, plate thickness, section number and other attributes. Components can be quickly retrieved by ID via the part and stiffener reports.
- Section assembly and building: Part ID's are printed on parts. During section assembly, workers identify components and installation positions by those ID's. The part data can also supports to simulate assembly sequence and detect assembly-related problems in advance.
- Workshop logistics and warehouse management: Part ID's and section numbers are used for sorting, locating and storing of plate parts to optimize material flow.
- Digital handover: The complete 3D model with part data can be used as the basis of as-built model and handed over to shipowner to support component inquiry and spare part management during vessel operation and maintenance.
The next step that can be taken from this deliverable is applying marking to the parts, which adds the marking data to the parts so they can be produced and assembled correctly.
