The 2D lines plan is a deliverable in the ship design process. It defines the shape of the hull and communicates it to everyone involved in the project. It is typically shared with a client or subcontractor for review.
The lines plan is produced after the hull form has been defined in the model space of the drawing. It contains the lines that describe the outer shape of the hull: the frames, the waterlines, the buttock lines and, where applicable, the diagonal, together with the main dimensions of the vessel. The deliverable is typically displayed in the 'paper space'.
Figure 1: An example of a 2D lines plan in MasterShip
In MasterShip the Lines plan is presented as a paper-space (layout) drawing, in which the views of the model space are arranged and prepared for export. The deliverable is then exported and delivered, for example to a client or a subcontractor for review.
Which SHIP-commands apply?
Use the MasterShip templates in the company folder for PDF export:
Right-click on one of the layout tabs (paper space) at the bottom-left of the AutoCAD session
Select “From template…”, and select the templates in the company folder.
You can now use this as a paper-space template.
Once imported, use MVIEW in this paper space to make a view from the model space.
Next steps
Once delivered, the (2D) lines plan is used for further engineering and for review and communication with the stakeholders involved (client, subcontractor, classification society).
