The solid only model is a 3D model that contains only the 3D solids of the construction, with all the other items such as xrefs, lines and details removed. This makes it a practical deliverable for exporting and sharing the 3D model with others. An example is shown below. This deliverable follows from the process step 'Exporting and sharing the 3D model'.

Which SHIP-commands apply?
When the 3D model is shared, it is often desired to include the metadata of the solids. This metadata describes each drawn part or stiffener: the part ID, material, thickness, production unit, profile type, etc. Attaching this metadata to the solids in the 3D model can be done using:
How can the solid only model be used?
The solid only model is mainly used to share with other people.
- It acts as a carrier for multi-disciplinary communication: communication among hull, machinery and outfitting disciplines. Designers can quickly inspect structural shapes and connections, and identify potential interferences / collissions.
- For finite element (FEM) analysis: Often solids or meshes are the desired input for FEM analysis.
- In the workshop: The 3D model can be used for workshop workers to show component shapes and assembly relations, and to quickly look-up part ID's.
