Workshop drawings, also called construction drawings or WSD, are the production drawings that show how the parts and stiffeners of a sections are assembled in the workshop. In general, a workshop drawing takes the construction from the model and turns it into a clear, dimensioned 2D sheet that a fabricator can follow.
They are presented as 2D views that are made from the 3D model, laid out on paper space. In MasterShip, those 2D drawings share the same source drawing as in the assembly.dwg; a change in the workshop drawings is a change in the assembly model as well, and vice versa.
The paper space layout is used to present each view with the correct scale and level of detail. An example is shown below.

Which SHIP-commands apply?
This deliverable can be exported using the MasterShip templates for the paper-space. The workflow applies as follows:
Open the DWG-file in AutoCAD / MasterShip.
Right-click on one of the layout tabs (paper-space) at the bottom-left of the AutoCAD session.
Select “From template…”, and select one of the templates in the company folder. MasterShip has default paper-space templates ranging from A3 to A0 size pre-configured.
Once selected, you will now see the paper-space.
Use MVIEW in this paper-space to make one or more views from your drawing in the model-space.
After the paper-space view is finished, you can print your drawing to, for example, PDF.
Those PDF's can be sent to, for example, a client or a subcontractor for review.
How can the workshop drawings be used?
Supporting technical documents for site construction: The workshop drawings are the deliverable that is handed to the workshop for the assembly of the section, showing every frame, longitudinal, horizontal and expansion with its part data, stiffener data, dimensions and details.
They are also delivered to a client or subcontractor for review: In this way the workshop drawings support both the actual fabrication and assembly step and the communication with external parties.
